This November, Cadence is proud to support the 30 Day Map Challenge – a global celebration of maps, creativity and storytelling. Whether you’re a first-time mapper or an experienced GIS professional, it’s your chance to experiment, share, and win prizes worth over £2,500. 

What is the 30 Day Map Challenge? 

Every year, thousands of people around the world share a new map each day in November. The themes are open, and the creativity is endless — from fun data experiments to professional, publish-ready visuals. 

In 2025, Cadence is joining in to make participation even easier. Every Cadence user (new or existing) gets a free Professional upgrade for November, unlocking all the tools you need to create interactive, data-rich maps in minutes. 

  • New users: sign up to unlock Professional access

  • Already a Professional user? You’ll get an extra month free as a thank-you

Prize Categories 

We want to showcase creativity, storytelling, and innovation in mapping.  

Share your maps with #30DayMapChallenge on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram or BlueSky (include both an image and an interactive link from Cadence) to be in the running. 

Here’s what’s up for grabs: 

  • The overall map prize will be £1,000. 
    Awarded to the standout entry that combines clarity, creativity, and technical strength. 
  • Most Innovative Use of Cadence → £500 + 6 months of Cadence Professional 
    Think bold. Use features like Isochrones, Desire Lines or Stories in new ways to surprise and inspire. 
  • Engagement Champion → £500 + 6 months of Cadence Professional 
    Rewarding the map that sparks interest and interaction online. 
  • Education Champion → £500 + 6 months of Cadence Professional 
    Celebrating maps created by (or for) students, educators, and learning communities. 

What We’re Looking For

Challenge is all about creativity, so there’s no single formula for success. But here are some ideas to spark inspiration: 

  • Beautiful storytelling: Use Cadence Stories to combine maps, text and images into a seamless narrative. 
  • Global impact: Ingest data in multiple formats to showcase the things that matter to you, or use our in-built databank giving you instant access to 3,700+ datasets. 
  • Smart analysis: Use advanced features such as isochrones to create new insights. 
  • Playfulness: Some of the most memorable maps are the quirky, surprising ones. 

No matter your approach, the key is: make it engaging, make it clear, and make it yours. 

How to Enter 

  1. Create your map in Cadence – explore tools like Isochrones, Stories, Annotations and more. 
  2. Publish it online with one click. 
  3. Share it on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, or BlueSky with the hashtag #30DayMapChallenge. 
    • Don’t forget to include both an image and the interactive Cadence link.

Schools, Universities & Educators 

We’re especially keen to see students and educators join this year’s Challenge. Cadence makes it simple to create interactive, professional-quality maps that can form part of portfolios, research projects or teaching materials. 

Encourage your students to enter — it’s a chance to showcase their skills on a global stage, with the chance to win prizes and recognition.

  • Book Training: Book into one of our dedicated training sessions to help you get started  
  • 1 November: Challenge begins – daily themes kick off worldwide 
  • 30 November: Final day to enter 
  • December: Prize winners announced
